Residents of Alakuko in Ijaye-Ojokoro Local Government Area of Lagos State are calling on the state government to intervene in the deplorable condition of the abandoned Baale-Animashaun Road. The road, which serves as an important alternative route connecting parts of Ogun State to Lagos, has been in a terrible state for years, worsening economic hardship for residents and business owners.
The poor condition of the road has led to constant damage to vehicles, difficulty in movement, and affected businesses in the area. Residents have made repeated appeals, including taking their complaints to social media, but to no avail. The Lagos State Ministry of Works has not responded to requests for comment.
The road’s economic importance cannot be overstated, as it links Lagos and Ogun states, serving several communities along the corridor. Residents are urging the government to prioritize the rehabilitation of the road, warning that the situation may worsen during the rainy season.
