The Edo State Police Command, in collaboration with the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), has arrested 12 suspected cultists in Auchi following a swift response to credible intelligence.

The suspects were apprehended at Amazing Grace Estate, Elele Community, Uzairue, Auchi, on May 7, 2026, at about 6:00 p.m.
Police identified the suspects as Abiola Anabgaifo, 33; Idogo Joshua, 28; Oseni Sani, 22; Aminu Abubakar, 19; Iyamah Precious, 29; Usman Raphael, 29; Ogene Jude, 31; Ibrahim Aheem, 27; Tunde Bright, 20; Jude Edeh, 21; Godwin Edeh, 19; and Aigbona Clifford, 20.
According to the Command, the suspects allegedly mobilized from Okpella to launch attacks on perceived rivals.
Preliminary investigations revealed that seven of the suspects confessed to involvement in cult-related activities, while some were identified as members of the Aye and Vikings confraternities.
Operatives also recovered a grey Mercedes-Benz Jeep with registration number GWA 471 DS, allegedly belonging to one Balogun Israel, who is currently at large.
The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, commended the operatives for their swift response and professionalism, noting that the Command remains committed to sustaining its crackdown on cultism and violent crimes across the state.
He disclosed that all suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Cultism Unit for further investigation and prosecution upon conclusion of investigations.
The Command further warned criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities or leave the state, stressing its readiness to deal decisively with anyone threatening the peace and security of residents.
