Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, on Tuesday conducted an on-the-spot security assessment at Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki, following a viral video showing two masked individuals emerging from a forest area adjoining the campus.
The visit, with operational personnel, was aimed at evaluating security around the institution and reassuring students, staff and parents.
During talks with the university management, CP Jimoh stressed the need to strengthen security architecture and advised on practical steps to enhance campus protection. He warned against actions that could weaken existing structures and emphasized proactive measures in perimeter protection, access control, and collaboration with security agencies.
To boost surveillance, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund has deployed drones around the university and neighboring communities. The deployment, facilitated by the Lagos State Government, is expected to improve aerial monitoring, intelligence gathering, and crime prevention.
“The Command remains committed to the protection of lives and property across Lagos State,” Jimoh said. He assured the university community of the police’s readiness to respond swiftly to security concerns and maintain a safe learning environment.
The CP urged management, staff and students to sustain close collaboration with security agencies, remain vigilant, and promptly report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency lines
The police assessment came after heightened public concern over the viral video, with authorities moving quickly to allay fears and strengthen security around the institution.
