Bishop David Oyedepo Condemns Nigeria’s Killings, Declares Prayers Against Perpetrators in Strong Security Message.
The Presiding Bishop of David Oyedepo, has strongly condemned the recent wave of violent killings across Nigeria, expressing deep concern over the continued loss of innocent lives and insecurity affecting communities in different parts of the country.
Speaking during a church service, the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel, stated that he would not offer prayers for those responsible for the attacks. Instead, he said his prayers would be directed against the perpetrators of the violence, stressing that individuals who deliberately take innocent lives should be confronted through justice and divine intervention.
Oyedepo described the persistent killings as unacceptable and called for decisive action to end the bloodshed. He urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayer while encouraging authorities to intensify efforts to safeguard lives and property. His remarks come amid renewed public concern over insecurity, with attacks by armed groups and criminal elements continuing to claim lives in several parts of the country.
The cleric’s comments have generated widespread discussion across religious, political, and social circles, reflecting growing frustration over Nigeria’s security challenges. Faith leaders, civil society groups, and citizens have repeatedly called for stronger security measures, accountability for perpetrators, and comprehensive strategies to restore peace in affected communities.
While opinions differ on the role of religious leaders in responding to violence, Oyedepo’s statement underscores the increasing demand for urgent and effective action to address insecurity and protect vulnerable populations across Nigeria.
