Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, CFR don declare 14 days fasting and prayer for all sons and daughters of Benin Kingdom, and even people wey dey live for Edo State.
Benin Traditional Council announce am say the fasting go start from Monday, September 14 to Sunday, September 27, 2026.
Every day na from 6:00am to 6:00pm people go fast.
Chief Osaigbovo Iguobaro, wey be Oba’s Chief Press Secretary, talk say na according to old Benin tradition dem dey do am before dem go chop new yam we call am Emorho.
According to the statement, the fasting and prayer na to ask God Almighty and our Royal Ancestors for:
Peace and tranquillity for Edo and Nigeria
Protection for families from death and evil
Good things for the land
Oba call on all Benin pikin dem, whether dem dey Nigeria or abroad, make dem join observe the fasting and prayer for the full 14 days.
As the people begin the spiritual exercise, the Oba pray say make peace and happiness full everywhere.
