APC Expands Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign Council With New Directorates, Key Appointments.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a supplementary membership list for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, expanding the party’s campaign structure with additional directorates and appointments ahead of the next general election.
The supplementary document, released on Sunday, October 25, 2026, and reported on October 26, outlines additional responsibilities covering election planning, security, infrastructure, health, youth mobilisation, new media and several professional and economic sectors. The appointments were contained in a document signed by the APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.
The development follows the party’s earlier revision of the campaign council, which brought several prominent political figures into strategic positions. Among those named in the revised structure were Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The expanded council is expected to strengthen coordination across the party’s political structures, with designated teams responsible for campaign planning, communications, stakeholder engagement and mobilisation across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
New Directorates Target Broader Campaign Coordination
The supplementary list reflects the APC’s effort to establish a broader organisational framework for Tinubu’s re election campaign.
The additional directorates cover several areas considered important to nationwide political mobilisation, including security and intelligence, infrastructure, health, youth engagement, new media and professional-sector outreach.
By distributing responsibilities across specialized teams, the party aims to coordinate its messaging, strengthen engagement with different constituencies and organize campaign activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The inclusion of professional groups and representatives of various interests also signals an effort to widen the campaign’s reach beyond established party structures. However, the effectiveness of the expanded arrangement will depend on how the different directorates coordinate their activities and translate their assignments into measurable political engagement.
Expansion Follows Earlier Changes to Campaign Leadership
The latest appointments build on the APC’s earlier announcement of its presidential campaign leadership.
President Tinubu heads the campaign council, while Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda occupy senior leadership positions. Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari was appointed Director General, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was named secretary.
Other prominent figures were assigned responsibilities covering administration, logistics, election monitoring, infrastructure mobilisation, fundraising and media communications.
The revised list also attracted attention because it included politicians affiliated with different political parties, including Wike, Adeleke and Soludo, who were designated campaign coordinators for particular states or territories. Their inclusion underscored the political reach of the campaign council beyond the APC’s immediate party leadership.
Political Implications Ahead of the 2027 Elections
The release of the supplementary list comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general election.
For the APC, the expanded campaign council provides an organisational platform for coordinating national messaging, engaging political stakeholders and mobilizing support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The composition of the council will also be closely watched by political observers as an indication of the party’s priorities, alliances and approach to managing its campaign across Nigeria’s diverse political landscape.
Nevertheless, the announcement of appointments does not, by itself, establish how effectively the council will perform. Its eventual impact will depend on the execution of its plans, the coordination of its directorates and its ability to engage voters on issues affecting their daily lives.
As the election approaches, the APC will face the broader challenge of convincing Nigerians that the administration’s policies and performance justify another term. Opposition parties, meanwhile, will seek to present alternative programmes and challenge the ruling party’s record.
The supplementary appointments therefore represent another step in the APC’s preparations for 2027, with the campaign council expected to play a central role in organizing the party’s re election effort.
