A vehicle vendor, Mohammed Manga, has been tossed into disarray after a client, one Henry, departed suddenly with one of his vehicles, a Mercedes Benz GLB 250 in the Abuja region of the Government Capital Domain.
According to the Manga, a friend who has yet to be identified but is also involved in the business of selling automobiles visited his office in Abuja and requested that he deliver a vehicle that was worth more than N55 million to a potential customer who might be interested in purchasing it.
In the wake of taking the vehicle to the client who presented himself as Henry, Manga said his companion let him know that after Henry mentioned a test drive and was joined by his companion.
Manga said that his friend was with Henry while he was testing the car. He added that things took a different turn when his friend told Henry he wanted to take money from a Point of Sale operator to buy fuel for the car at a filling station. He said that when his friend got out of the car to take the money, Henry took the car to a place he didn’t know.
Manga stated, “A friend of mine called to inform me that he wants to transport my Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 to a customer.” The client arrived at his office after he drove the car there. He claimed that the customer, who identified himself as Henry from Gwarinpa, saw the vehicle on an online marketplace.
He liked the car when he saw it; they arranged N55m for the vehicle and he said alright and requested test driving the vehicle. Before the test drive, he drove the vehicle and my friend, who was seated in the passenger seat, to the gas station in Garki, which is across from the automatic car wash.
“However, the guy zoomed off with the vehicle as soon as my friend stepped out of the car at the filling station to withdraw money from the PoS operator to buy fuel. You know about the way things are, there’s no traffic, no hold up in Abuja and that is the means by which he fled with the vehicle.”
Manga said he revealed that case to the Counter Vehicle Robbery Unit of the order, adding that the taken vehicle is dark, with a mileage of 19000.
Reached, the FCT Police Advertising Official, Josephine Ameh, said, “The police are following the suspect (Henry).”
