The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns over the recently released voter registration data by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing the figures as “statistically implausible.”
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party questioned the credibility of the numbers, particularly those from Osun State. According to the ADC, INEC reported nearly 400,000 new registrations within a single week a figure it said surpasses the state’s total new registrations in the last four years combined.
The party further noted that the Southwest region alone accounted for 72 percent of all new pre-registrations nationwide, a development it described as “highly suspicious.”
Warning that such discrepancies could undermine public trust in Nigeria’s electoral process, the ADC urged INEC to come forward with a clear explanation to restore confidence ahead of future elections.
