Anyone following the unnecessary altercations the self exiled Edo State PDP Secretary has embarked on in the social media space cannot but wonder how on earth Edo PDP got to this level. It is a show of a man with a destructive tendency who has decided to pull the roof of his house down hoping that his neighbor will give him shelter.

This unfortunate situation is a fallout from the syndrome of appointing people into elective offices instead of allowing the people to elect them on merit. Hilary Otsu’s only credential before his appointment as State secretary was being an errand boy to the former state chairman.

This was what the former chairman used to impose him as the state Secretary of a dynamic and global party like the PDP. A man that has never won his unit!! Since then, Hilary has taken up the sword of destruction to bring down the PDP in Edo State by ensuring that meetings and organizations are frustrated.

The press release dated December 2nd, 2023 credited to Hillary Otsu is most vexatious. It displayed ignorance and insubordination to the highest level. How could a Secretary be addressing his Chairman in such a manner? When his benefactor was the chairman, who knew or heard of his Secretary?

Hilary Otsu talked of the chairman’s tendencies to factionilise the party. This is laughable. Here is a Secretary that has singlehandedly tried to overturn the decisions of the State Executive Committee which is the highest decision making organ in the state after the state Congress.

A Secretary that has refused to carryout lawful directives by the chairman to send out notices of meetings. All he wants is to continue the crisis because he knows that under normalcy, his inability to win his unit will be exposed and PDP will still win the State.

The Committee authorized by SEC to be set up by the SWC is purely to monitor and ensure compliance with the registration exercise. This is not new. The duty still falls squarely on the wards executives.

Hilary should stop this his deliberate misinformation and misinterpretation of events just to futher cause confusion in order to achieve his ultimate aim of seeing that the PDP looses the governorship election in 2024 before formerly defecting to the APC with his master.

A careful study of sections 35, 36 and 39 of the PDP constitution as amended, will expose the treasonous actions of Hilary Otsu. The constitution vests Executive powers on the chairman.

What he is doing can be likened to the Director of Finance and Admin in a ministry?, who is the Chief Accounting and Administrative officer, flexing muscles with the Minister who has Executive powers.

A global reading of Section 36 will reveal to anyone that the Secretary cannot issue out notices or correspondences unless directed to do so by the Chairman . He reports to the chairman. Period. What Hilary Otsu is doing now is treasonable.

The choice of combative words like cohorts, disgruntled to describe fellow party leaders is unfortunate but not surprising. Hilary claimed that he had taken a vow to uphold the constitution of the party. Let him walk his talk.
