The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a high-level security alert warning of planned coordinated attacks by the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in several communities across Ondo and Kogi states The memo, dated October 20, 2025 was addressed to the Brigade Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery, Owena Cantonment, Akure.
ISWAP operatives have already begun surveillance on soft targets in these areas.
The attack plan follows a three-year anniversary of the June 2022 St. Francis Catholic Church massacre in Owo, where over 40 worshippers were killed by suspected ISWAP militants.
