Justice Aigbona Momodu of the Edo State Special Criminal Court has sentenced four persons to death for their involvement in the kidnapping of a woman at the Vegetable Market along Airport Road in Benin City, Edo State.
The court handed down the sentence after finding the four defendants guilty of offences connected with the abduction.
The incident, which occurred at the popular Vegetable Market axis of Airport Road, led to the arrest and subsequent prosecution of the suspects before the Special Criminal Court.
Justice Momodu, in delivering judgment, convicted the defendants and imposed the death sentence in accordance with the applicable provisions of the law.
The judgment represents another major development in Edo State’s ongoing prosecution of kidnapping and other serious criminal offences.
