Viral Moments That Led to Disqualification
According to race officials, one female participant abruptly stopped mid race to perform a full split pose while gesturing for photographs, forcing runners behind her to change course to avoid collision. Organisers said the act constituted an “obstructive foul” that compromised the safety of other competitors and interfered with the orderly conduct of the race.
In a separate incident, a male runner was filmed carrying a backpack filled with dozens of energy gels and food items collected from supply stations along the marathon route. Both runners were immediately disqualified, stripped of their race results, and barred from participating in marathons within Sichuan Province for two years.
