Inspector Oyebisi Bolaji on Monday told the Ikeja Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos how a 40-year-old man, Monday Daniel, allegedly defiled his neighbor’s 13-year-old granddaughter.
Prosecution witness Mr Bolaji, who gave evidence before Prosecutor Olufunke Adegoke, told the court that a minor living with his grandmother was defiled by the accused in Erere Agege area of āāthe state.
The witness also told Justice Abiola Soladoye that another neighbor, Uche Ube, caught the defendant in the act and raised the alarm.
“He (the accused) got up in the middle of the night and went into her grandmother’s house. Another neighbor, Mr. Uche Ube, said that when he caught the girl before raising the alarm, she said she was about to urinate. “I stood up,” she said.

During the arraignment, the prosecutor told the court that the defendant committed the crime on October 11, 2021.
According to her, the offense was in violation of Section 137 of the 2015 Lagos State Penal Code.
However, the defendant maintained her innocence of the charges against her. Judge Soladoye remanded the defendant in custody and adjourned the case until November 23, 2023 for further trial.
