A tragic accident claimed the life of Taoreed Okanlawon, an employee of Dangote Cement Industry, on Saturday. The incident occurred in the early morning along the Dangote Roundabout in the Ibese area of Yewa North, Ogun State.
Witnesses report that Okanlawon was a passenger on a motorcycle when the bike hit a speed bump, causing him to lose balance and fall onto the road. Unfortunately, a nearby Dangote staff bus, unable to stop in time, ran over him, resulting in his death.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident, adding that the driver of the staff bus fled the scene immediately after the accident. Officers from the Imasayi Division responded to the accident, gathering evidence at the scene.
The motorcyclist, Achile Ejigho, also employed at Dangote Cement, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the company hospital, where he is reportedly responding well to treatment. Okanlawon’s body has been transferred to the state hospital in Ilaro for an autopsy.
An investigation is underway to locate the driver and uncover further details surrounding the incident.
