A driver, identified as Emeka, was fatally shot when armed kidnappers attacked a vehicle carrying passengers from Kebbi State to Asaba in Delta State. The incident occurred on Sunday near Kwana-Barau and Kundu village in Niger State. During the assault, five passengers were abducted, and Emeka, who was driving a vehicle with registration number LND 863 YF, lost his life.
In a related event, security personnel in Niger State rescued 19 passengers who had been traveling from Sokoto to Bayelsa before being ambushed by suspected kidnappers. The passengers, who were in a Toyota bus with registration number LG 08 DGS, were attacked on November 1 along the Tegina-Zungeru road and taken into a forest. Following an intense search, all victims were rescued unharmed.
The Niger State Police Command confirmed both incidents, stating that while most of the kidnapped individuals were freed, efforts continue to secure the release of any remaining captives.
