The exercise, which took place in all 18 local government areas and 192 wards, successfully produced the party’s candidates for chairmanship and councillorship positions.

Addressing journalists in Benin City, Chairman of the State Primary Election Committee, Mohammed Bello, said the party adopted the direct primary method based on consensus and affirmation.

He noted that reports from across the local government areas indicated that the exercise was seamless and largely rancour-free.
Bello expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the forthcoming elections, stating that the APC remains a forward-looking party with strong grassroots support.

Also speaking, the APC State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, described the outcome of the primaries as a testament to the party’s commitment to democratic principles.
According to him, the process has further strengthened internal democracy, unity, and cohesion among party members.

“The exercise reflects our commitment to inclusivity, equity, and fairness, in line with global best practices,” Tenebe said.

He added that the party is determined to promote transparency and objectivity in its processes, describing the current approach as a departure from past practices.

Tenebe congratulated all successful candidates, urging them to see their emergence as a call to duty and work diligently to secure victory for the party in the July polls.

He further stated that the APC is now strategically positioned for the elections, expressing confidence in the party’s chances across all council areas and wards.

The chairman also commended members of the various committees for the successful conduct of the primaries and lauded the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo for its efforts in governance, which he said has strengthened the party’s appeal among the people.
