The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo has ordered the immediate suspension of Felix Osemwengie Isere, Special Adviser to the Governor on Oil and Gas, for unauthorized fundraising activities carried out in the name of the Edo State Government.
The disciplinary action, announced in an official statement signed by Umar Musa Ikhilor, Secretary to the State Government, stated that Mr. Isere allegedly solicited funds using the name of the state for a proposed Oil and Gas Summit scheduled to take place in Benin City on August 7, 2025, without proper authorization.
As a result, the planned summit has now been suspended, and Mr. Isere has been directed to refund all monies collected from donors.
The Edo State Government has also advised all prospective donors to cease any dealings with the suspended official, pending further investigation.
