The Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Samson Osagie, has assured the executive members of the International Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA), Edo State Chapter, of the government’s resolve to ensure that FIDA’s modalities, through the use of legal frameworks, will help women live free from all forms of discrimination, violence, and abuse in society.
Dr. Osagie gave this assurance when he received a delegation from FIDA, led by its Chairperson, Princess Francisca Elema, in his office at the Ministry of Justice.
The Commissioner who commended FIDA for its efforts in combating societal ills, resolving cases of defilement, drug abuse, and promoting children’s welfare noted that the Ministry of Justice is ready to collaborate with FIDA to achieve its purpose.
On her part, the Chairperson of FIDA, Princess Francisca Elema, said that they visited the Attorney General’s office to intimate him of the Association’s activities. She stated that FIDA’s vision is to create a just, peaceful, equitable, and egalitarian society where women and children’s rights and interests are guaranteed.
Highpoint of the event was the conferment of the title of Patron of the Association on the Attorney General by virtue of his office and in line with FIDA’s constitution of November 2022.
