The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, has been successfully screened and inducted into the prestigious Benin Recreation Club, located in GRA, Benin City.
The screening session, presided over by Venerable Nosayaba Edokpolor, saw Comrade Alenkhe take a bow after being acknowledged for his outstanding character and commitment to societal development. Venerable Edokpolor commended him, describing Alenkhe as a man of integrity who is expected to contribute meaningfully to the club’s progress.
Highlighting the club’s legacy since its establishment in 1933, Edokpolor reiterated the importance of discipline among members, warning that any act of misconduct would not be tolerated.
In his remarks, Comrade Festus Alenkhe noted that his decision to join the Benin Recreation Club stems from a desire to embrace the culture of relaxation after a demanding work schedule.
He emphasized that recreation plays a vital role in enhancing mental health and productivity. He further pledged to support the continued growth of the club and abide by its constitution.
Also speaking, the club’s secretary, Comrade Marcus Mcaine Okoebor, described the Benin Recreation Club as one of Nigeria’s foremost elite clubs committed to the welfare and well-being of its members, who are drawn from various professional backgrounds.
The Benin Recreation Club remains a hub for social interaction and relaxation, fostering camaraderie among its distinguished members.
