The six convicts, identified as Idris Muhammed, Ismail Mustapha, Oyekola Odunayo, Anthony Stephen, Timilehin Adeniyi, and Olayiwola Ayomide Abdulmalik, faced charges related to fraudulent online activities.

Justice Akanbi sentenced Muhammed, Mustapha, Odunayo, and Stephen, while Adeniyi and Abdulmalik were sentenced by Justice Yusuf on October 14, 2024.

Idris Muhammed was convicted for defrauding a victim by pretending to be a woman named Dorthy Onanewlevel Palmer, obtaining $600 via a cash app. Ismail Mustapha used a TikTok account to impersonate someone named Myre Roddy, deceiving a victim into sending $500 through Apple gift cards.

Each of the defendants pleaded guilty to the charges, and their confessions, along with items seized at the time of their arrest, were admitted as evidence.

The court imposed prison sentences ranging from six months to two years, with options for fines. In addition, the convicts’ mobile phones and funds obtained from their fraudulent activities were ordered to be forfeited to the Federal Government.
