The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has assured the leadership of the Edo State Golf Association of his unwavering support and commitment to the growth and development of golf in the state. He disclosed that plans are underway, to launch the Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament as part of efforts to promote the sport from the grassroots level.
Hon. Enabulele gave the assurance when he received the Chairman of the Edo State Golf Association, Mr. Andy Momodu, alongside members of the association, coaches, and athletes, who paid him a solidarity visit at his office in Benin City on Tuesday. During the visit, the delegation presented trophies and medals won by Edo golfers since the last National Sports Festival held in Ogun State.
In his remarks, Enabulele commended the association’s leadership for its dedication to nurturing young talents and sustaining Edo’s reputation as a stronghold in national sports.

Chairman further congratulated the athletes for their impressive performances, noting that their achievements reflect the success of Edo’s grassroots sports development initiatives. And he also reaffirmed the Commission’s readiness to partner with the Golf Association in hosting major tournaments across the state,including introducing the a Governor’s Cup tournament
On his part, Chairman of the Edo State Golf Association Board, Mr. Andy Momodu, praised the Sports Commission Chairman for his visionary leadership and commitment to repositioning sports in the state. He highlighted the achievements of Edo golfers, including Ehis Igbinadolor’s feat as first runner-up and Nigeria’s best performer at the All Africa Challenge/Central Africa Championship, as well as the successes of Osaze Iyare, winner of the Delta Men’s Governor’s Golf Cup and the Benin Club Open title holder, among others.
Mr. Momodu also announced his recent appointment as the South-South representative on the Nigeria Golf Federation, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen regional cooperation and further promote golf development.
