“Felix Ohagwu Takes Charge as Ondo’s 47th Police Commissioner Amid Security Focus”

Felix Ohagwu has officially assumed office as the 47th Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, succeeding Adebowale Lawal in a leadership transition expected to shape the state’s security strategy in the coming months.

The appointment marks a new phase for the Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State, where concerns over kidnapping, armed robbery, communal tensions, and other criminal activities have remained key public safety issues.

In his assumption of duty, Ohagwu pledged to strengthen security operations across the state while deepening collaboration between law enforcement agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders. Police authorities said the new commissioner brings years of operational and administrative policing experience to the role.

Security analysts note that the leadership change comes at a critical period for Ondo State, particularly as authorities intensify efforts to improve intelligence gathering, maintain public order, and address emerging security threats across the South West region.

The outgoing commissioner, Adebowale Lawal, was commended for his service during his tenure, which included coordinated security operations and community policing initiatives aimed at curbing criminal activities in parts of the state.

Residents and civic groups are expected to closely monitor the new police leadership’s approach to crime prevention, rapid response policing, and engagement with local communities as the state continues to confront evolving security challenges.

The appointment of a new commissioner also aligns with ongoing restructuring and deployment strategies within the Nigeria Police Force aimed at strengthening law enforcement efficiency nationwide.
