FG’s ₦50,000 Monthly Relief Grant: How MTN Users Can Check Eligibility Through MoMo PSB.

The Federal Government has released guidelines explaining how Nigerians selected for its ₦50,000 monthly relief programme can confirm their eligibility and access the financial support through approved mobile payment platforms, including MTN’s MoMo Payment Service Bank (MoMo PSB).

The intervention, known as the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), is designed to provide financial assistance to poor and vulnerable households struggling with rising food prices and the increasing cost of essential commodities.

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, which oversees the initiative, announced its commencement on October 30, 2026, stating that selected beneficiaries would receive ₦50,000 monthly to help meet essential household needs.

How MTN MoMo Users Can Check Their Eligibility

MTN subscribers who use MoMo PSB can check their eligibility by following these steps:

  1. Dial *671*0# using the phone number linked to their MoMo account.
  2. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
  3. Select the option to check eligibility for the Federal Government’s relief programme.
  4. If selected, follow the instructions to accept the financial support.
  5. Upon successful acceptance, a MoMo wallet will be activated or linked to the beneficiary’s phone number, and the ₦50,000 grant will be credited.

Beneficiaries are also expected to receive SMS notifications from their respective payment providers confirming their selection and providing instructions on how to accept the offer.

Who Qualifies for the ₦50,000 Grant?

According to the Federal Government, beneficiaries are selected from verified national identity records and the National Social Register, with priority given to poor and vulnerable households.

The government has clarified that individuals cannot independently register or pay to secure a place on the beneficiary list.

It also explained that the programme is being implemented in phases, meaning eligible Nigerians may receive notifications at different times.

Consequently, subscribers who have not received an SMS should not automatically assume they have been excluded from future payment batches.

Other Approved Payment Platforms and USSD Codes

Although MTN users can access the programme through MoMo PSB, the Federal Government has also approved other financial service providers to facilitate payments.

Their respective USSD codes include:

  • MoMo PSB (MTN): 6710#
  • ALAT by Wema Bank: 94523#
  • NairaGram: 72600#
  • OPay: 95520#
  • Moniepoint: 557327#

These channels allow selected beneficiaries to check their eligibility, accept the support and access their mobile wallets.

Government Warns Nigerians Against Scams

The Federal Government has warned Nigerians to remain vigilant against fraudsters attempting to exploit the relief programme.

Authorities stressed that accessing the ₦50,000 support is completely free. Beneficiaries are not required to pay registration fees, processing charges or agents to secure their payments.

The government also cautioned recipients against sharing their Personal Identification Numbers (PINs), One Time Passwords (OTPs) and other sensitive banking information with individuals claiming to facilitate the payments.

For enquiries  or complaints concerning the programme, Nigerians can contact the official NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222.

The ₦50,000 intervention represents another government effort to provide direct financial assistance to vulnerable households amid persistent economic pressures. However, its effectiveness will depend on transparent beneficiary selection, reliable payment delivery.
