A fire incident occurred at the new Kwara State High Court complex in Ilorin, the state capital. The fire, which started in the early hours of Tuesday morning, caused severe damage to the main building, including courtrooms, the litigation department, and offices. It was reported that files of old cases were burnt in the fire. The State Fire Service stated that the fire was triggered by a power surge.
Firefighters were able to prevent the complete devastation of the High Court building. The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Abiodun Adebara, visited the burnt building after the fire was put out. In a separate incident, a building containing 15 rooms and a shop in Ilorin was also engulfed by fire due to a power surge. The fire service was able to minimize the damage and prevent the fire from spreading further.
