To gauge their preparation for the U20 AFCON later this month in Egypt, the Flying Eagles will host their Zambian opponents at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja today in a warm-up encounter. The Flying Eagles have gone undefeated in 16 test games building up to the event. The game will begin at 4.

As the Flying Eagles prepare to leave for Morocco early next week for a training tour before their trip to Egypt for the U20 AFCON, which will also serve as qualifiers for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia in May, this will be their final encounter before leaving for the tournament.

On Tuesday, goals from new striker Olamilekan Adams, Ibrahim Yahaya, Samson Lawal, and Solomon Agbalaka guided the club coached by Ladan Bosso to a 5-0 victory over NLO side Capital City FC.

The Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, was there for the Flying Eagles’ victory and will be expected to enforce his rules on the team today.

As the true countdown to the U20 AFCON begins, Coach Bosso will put up his strongest lineup in his customary 4-3-3 configuration.

Olamilekan Adams, a winger for the Remo Stars, has scored goals as a centre forward in the team’s last two games.

The Flying Eagles, who won the WAFU B U20 Championship in Niger Republic in May 2022, have been placed in a difficult-looking Group A for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Egypt from February 18th to March 12th of this year.

The Junior Chipolopolo of Zambia, winners of the 2017 U20 AFCON on home soil, will compete in Group C against the Gambia, Tunisia, and Benin Republic.

Before the big game, they’ll play Flying Eagles’ rivals Senegal in Dakar.

Chisi Mbewe’s club is making a run for the playoffs six years after winning the competition in the preliminary round.
