The World Cup final left many French fans dissatisfied due to some controversial refereeing decisions. Some were considered unfair, and the strangest thing is that the VAR didn’t intervene.
One of those decisions was the penalty for Argentina which, when seen from several perspectives, caused controversy because some believe Di María fell without any contact from Dembele.
The other is the second Albiceleste goal, as a foul on Mbappe wasn’t called at the start of the play which led to Di Maria‘s goal.
Through the platform ‘MesOpinions’, a petition was formulated with the name: “The referee was totally bought, there was never a penalty + foul on MBAPPE in the 2nd goal!!!! Sign and share en masse for the match to be replayed!”.
People have turned out in full force as currently there are more than 200,000 signatures from those asking for the World Cup final to be replayed.
The petition is already in the top 20 when it comes to most signatures, and if it exceeds half a million it would become one of the three most popular on the French platform.
In addition, the comments have flooded the page and stand at more than 85,000. Comments such as “The refereeing was very suspicious” or “The referee was corrupt” were some of the most outstanding
