The vigilantes under the leadership of Mr Osagie Ugbodu while on routine patrol between Eko- oghenyen- Ahia- Udakpa communities ( neighbouring communities) following several threats by the Fulani herdsmen which resulted in the killing of an IBO farmer right in his farm by Fulani herdsmen within the suburbs fortnight ago with a follow up threats by same Fulani herdsmen to completely wipe out the existence of the entire indigenes and take possessions of their farms and belongings across the council area haven forcefully taken over several farms from the owners did accosted 3 motorcycles with 2- occupants each totally 6 persons in all but on sighting the vigilantees the occupants of the motorcycles who were later discovered to be Fulani herdsmen opened gunfire at the vigilantees and the vigilantees returned fire for fire but the Fulani herdsmen on seeing the superior fire powers of the vigilantees immediately fled while the vigilantees gave them a hot chase with continues exchange of gun fires and in the process one of the Fulani herdsmen was gun down while the rest fled but the injured one (make) died on the way to the hospital.
Items recovered from the bandit include; 1- motorcycle ( unmarked), 1- AK-47 assault multipurpose rifle with 20- live ammunition and charms.
The corpse has been deposited at the morgue by Men of Ubiaja divisional police station while exhibits are domiciled with the appropriate authorities.
