Two men are presently cooling their feet at the Kirikiri maximum prison for allegedly gang-raping a 25-year old lady to satisfy their sexual desire in Lagos.
The two men, Ifeanyi Kalu, 25, and Kamorudeen Sanyaolu, 25, allegedly committed the crime at Mobo area of Ikorodu, Lagos, where they reside.
The Police authority alleged that the suspects lured the lady to an apartment in the area, forcefully removed her clothes, a threat to stab her to death if she refused, and engaged her in sex one after the other.
According to Police sources, while one of them raped her, the other watched the action in order to satisfy their sexual desire on two rounds each.
Having satisfied themselves, they allowed her to go but warned her not to tell anybody what happened, but the lady, unable to bear the trauma, went and reported to the Police in the area and they were trailed and arrested.
The suspects were later transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos Police Command for further investigation.
After investigation, the Police found them culpable and subsequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offense, which attracts life imprisonment if found guilty before the Court of Law.
When they were arraigned, the Court did not take their plea following a motion by the prosecutor, Supol Clifford Ogu, for the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. S.K. Matope ordered they should be remanded in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 10th January 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
