Ekpoma, Edo State — Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has announced the approval for the construction of a 500-bed hostel facility for the medical school of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.
The governor pledged during his campaign tour of several wards in Esan West Local Government Area, including Iruekpen and Ekpoma, as part of activities ahead of the August 16 Edo Central Senatorial By-election.
According to Governor Okpebholo, construction work on the hostel will begin in the coming weeks.
“Edo State Government will build a 500-bed hostel accommodation for the medical school in AAU, Ekpoma. In the coming weeks, we will mobilize contractors to site,” he said. “Remember, the first thing I announced when I became governor was that we would increase the university’s subvention to ₦500 million — and we have delivered. Have we not also constituted the governing council for the school?”
The governor reiterated his commitment to fulfilling his promises, urging party members to work towards securing 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The campaign event drew several key All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders, including State Deputy Chairman Sylvester Aigboboh; Edo Central Senatorial Leader, Gen. Cecil Isekhaigbe (rtd); Secretary to the State Government; and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Gani Audu, among others.
