Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon Paul Ohonbamu says Governor Monday Okpebholo has commenced a process of restoring the good quality of life which Godwin Obaseki deprived the people of the state in eight years.

The Commissioner who disclosed this in a statement in Benin City, said there was social dislocation during the reign of Godwin Obaseki and the PDP. And Governor Monday Okpebholo has come to restore the quality of life which the people deserve.

According to him, ” Governor Monday Okpebholo is calm, very humane and cerebral. Deeper river flows in Majestic silence and flowers that smell good and beautiful are always shy and lonely. He has come to resolve what the past government could not do right.

“The former Governor used the Special intervention team at the Ambrose Ali University, AAU to appropriate power to himself to deal with people and did nothing in terms of progress.

“But when Okpebholo came, he inuagurated the Governing Council of AAU in keeping with the standards. He saw that 128 graduates of the Medical School were yet to be accredited and inducted, but today they have been inducted. Over eight hundred nurses who also graduated have taken their oath of practice.

“Governor Okpebholo believes that for education to thrive, the government must spend and invest in that sector. The former governor was spending 41 million Naira monthly subventions in AAU, but it was raised to 500 million Naira, over 1,119 percent increase.

“The moment Governor Okpebholo announced it, that same month in November, the university authorities confirmed they have received the payment and they were very grateful.

“The Professors and other intellectual labourers that were affected in AAU were recalled because the Governor’s action was predicated on malice and bad blood,” Hon Ohonbamu noted.

The Commissioner who advised that the Governor deserves respect from every one, especially from political associates who should know when to apply the brakes also disclosed that some academic programmes that were not accredited at the Usen Polytecnic, have since been accredited within one hundred days in office of the Monday Okpebholo administration.

“They are Higher National Diploma,HND Business administration, HND Estate Management, National Diploma, ND Mineral and Petroleum Resources.

“There are so much to know about the Governor who is an Information, Communication,Technology, ICT expert. It will interest Edo people to know that his company, INTERWEB SATCOM won the number one Africa to Africa internet provider award at the Geneva Conference in 2009.

“The personality and humility of the Governor attracts and does not repel. His humility is not a sign of weakness, rather it is a strategy, because he believes in Justice which must be rooted in confidence,” the Commissioner added
