Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has inaugurated 19 Commissioners alongside several Chairmen and Members of Boards and Commissions, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to service, integrity, and accountability in governance. The ceremony, held at the Government House in Benin City, drew top dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi (SAN); the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Musa Ikilor, the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Gani Audu, serving Commissioners, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, and other senior government officials.
Governor Okpebholo underscored that all appointments were made on merit and not as political rewards, emphasising that each appointee has been chosen to deliver efficient and people-centred governance across the state. He reiterated that his administration remains focused on tangible results and effective service delivery rather than propaganda.
He charged the new appointees to approach their duties with discipline, teamwork, and a shared sense of responsibility, noting that their appointments represent an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Edo State. The Governor also warned against corruption and personal enrichment, insisting on transparency and accountability in all public dealings.
Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, stressing that public office is a call to serve rather than an avenue for personal gain. He further highlighted the importance of loyalty to the people and the collective vision of rebuilding Edo State for sustainable growth.
According to the Governor, the swearing-in marks another milestone in the government’s efforts to strengthen institutions and deliver practical governance that directly impacts communities across the state. He called on all appointees to align with the administration’s developmental agenda and uphold the highest standards of public service.
Speaking on behalf of the new appointees, Hon. Ebea Festus Odianonsen expressed appreciation to Governor Okpebholo for the confidence reposed in them and assured that they would work collectively to advance the administration’s vision of a prosperous and united Edo State.
