Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced that his administration will soon begin commissioning completed projects across the state, marking a new phase of infrastructure delivery.
Speaking on Saturday during a political rally in Igueben Local Government Area, where key figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Okpebholo said the wave of development under his leadership is gaining traction.
He told the enthusiastic crowd: “Very soon, we will replicate what Nyesom Wike is doing in the Federal Capital Territory by commissioning projects for a whole month. We’re planning the same in Edo State — from Edo South to Edo Central and Edo North.”
Governor Okpebholo attributed the ongoing political realignments and defections to the visible impact of his administration’s work. “They decided that the only way to pay us back is to join us. Today, the narrative is changing,” he said, noting that the party’s momentum reflects growing confidence in his leadership.
Reaffirming his promise to deliver 2.5 million votes to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election, Okpebholo said, “With what we are doing now, that promise is very possible.”
He also took a swipe at the previous administration, contrasting his government’s achievements with their unmet promises. “The past government said they would build a seaport — they never did even half a kilometer. Today, we are doing it. We are constructing roads across Edo. We will do in one year what they could not do in eight.”
Among those who joined the APC at the rally were Hon. Eugene Inegbobho, the current member representing Igueben in the Edo State House of Assembly; Hon. Felix Omi Imiesili, a former PDP State Secretary and two-time local government chairman; and Hon. Sylvanus Igbogbo, who led other grassroots leaders in defecting to the APC.
