The Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Mr. Fred Itua, has been honoured with a prestigious award for excellence in digitalization by Pinnacle Builder Homes and Properties in Benin City.
The award recognizes Mr. Itua’s outstanding contributions to the media landscape, particularly in leveraging digital platforms to promote and document the activities and achievements of the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Presenting the award, the Chief Executive Officer of Pinnacle Builder Homes and Properties, Mr. Samson Areladia, described Itua’s recognition as a testament to his unwavering dedication, professionalism, and years of experience in the media industry.
He applauded Itua for effectively utilizing digital tools to keep the Edo public informed and engaged with the governor’s developmental strides.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Itua expressed surprise and gratitude, noting that the award serves as both encouragement and a call to continue delivering quality service.

“This award is an honour—and what makes it more special is that I didn’t lobby for it. It came as a surprise and proves that people are always watching, even when we think they are not,” he said.
He dedicated the award to the people of Edo State, his colleagues in the media, and Governor Okpebholo for providing the platform and support that make his work impactful.
“It is important for public servants to give their best, even when no one is watching. Every action counts and will either be acknowledged or critiqued. I dedicate this award to Edo people and to the journalists who have supported and, when necessary, constructively criticized us. They make our work more effective,” Itua added.
He further praised members of the press for their consistent engagement, stating that their collaboration has made the communication of government activities more transparent and accessible.
The ceremony also saw the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Mr. Festus Alenkhe, receive an award in recognition of his contributions to journalism and societal development. In his remarks, Alenkhe thanked the organizers and pledged to continue promoting professional journalism in the state.
The event highlighted the critical role of media professionals in governance and the growing impact of digital communication in bridging the gap between government and the people.
