Meet Popovits Pavel from România, Oradea who spoke with Obaland Magazine Chidinma Tijani about his intention to coach any Nigeria league club and more.
My name is Popovits Pavel from Romania, Oradea. I’m part of a family of athletes. My father played in the Romanian national team and coached in the first division in Romania. I learned from him to be fair to players and teach them to have a winning mentality.
While I was still playing football, I graduated from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports. I trained and at the same time, I played in Romania.
I started my real coaching career in Hungary, where I had goals to grow young players and have results at the same time. I was able to raise five players who played in the Hungarian national teams. I have finished the UEFA PRO license and I am waiting for new challenges.
I want to implement a winning mentality for the team. Because they have very good physical qualities. And it is good to work with players.
I was a professional footballer and I was always under pressure. The pressure on me motivates me.
I didn’t really have a conflict with the players. I tried through discussions to convince them that what I was saying was right.
I build the strategy depending on what slot I have available and depending on the opponent with whom I play.
One positive thing I can say about the teams in Nigeria that, they have some players with very good physical qualities and the desire to win. A negative thing is a tactical discipline.
Jose Mourinho is my best coach ever. He is someone o respect in the coaching jobs. I only consider success when I see that the team starts to play my ideas and has results. I consider failure when I fail my goal.
Depends on the club’s strategy. Only then can I tell if you have to buy foreign players or not
