The Katsina State Police Command has uncovered a shocking case of a 14-year-old girl who conspired with three others to abduct her 4-year-old sister and fake her own kidnapping, demanding a ransom of ₦50 million. The police spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq, revealed this during a briefing on the command’s activities for May.
According to Sadiq, the incident was reported on February 20, 2025, by the girls’ father, Alhaji Badamasi Bala, who informed the police that his two daughters had been kidnapped. The police promptly launched an investigation, led by the anti-kidnapping unit.
After four months of investigation, the 14-year-old girl surfaced and confessed to orchestrating the kidnapping of her younger sister and faking her own abduction. The police subsequently arrested three other suspects, aged 25, 19, and 16, and rescued the 4-year-old victim unharmed.
The suspects confessed to the crime, and a live round of 7.62mm ammunition was recovered from them. The police are continuing their investigation, and the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, has commended the officers’ efforts.
The incident highlights the need for vigilance and cooperation between the public and law enforcement agencies. The police urge the public to report suspicious activities to aid prompt and decisive action.
This case serves as a reminder of the complexities of crime and the importance of thorough investigations. The Katsina State Police Command’s efforts in solving this case demonstrate their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
