The 2023 annual Igue Cultural festival also known as ‘Ugie’, is drawing effusive praises and submission to a higher authority in honour of Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin’s reign on the throne of his ancestors that began over seven years ago with several milestones.
This sense of duty carried with joy and profound dignity in celebrating humanity, made indigenes of Ukhiri Osemwende village in Ikpoba-Okha Local government Area of Edo State, to pay homage to Oba of Benin Palace in appreciation for the recent appointment of Pa. Dennis Osagie Arase as the Odionwere of village by the Oba.
In keeping the memory alive, Ukhiri Osemwende villagers, showcased their rich cultural tapestry from the hidden gem, having discovered how the tide of time of Oba Ewuare II and His Royal personage, have brought a remarkable change to the lives of Edo people.
Accompanied by elders of Ukhiri-Osemwende, including Pa. Goodluck Okhuarobo, Mr. Kelly Ogbeide (Okaighele) and other indigenes of the village, prayed for Benin monarchy as they look up to Oba Ewuare II, for direction and thereafter put their talents to test with joyful ambition and creative performance at the Palace.
Addressing the people of Ukhiri-Osemwende on behalf of the Palace, Chief Uyi Okungbowa, the Ogua of Benin, prayed God almighty and ancestors to bless the people and advised them to shun violence.
