The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of all suspects linked to a viral school bullying incident that sparked widespread outrage across the state, stating that those involved will be charged before the Family Court.

In an official update, the Command said investigations into the incident have been concluded, with all individuals directly connected identified and apprehended in line with laws guiding juvenile justice and child protection.

Preliminary findings revealed that the incident began on March 5, 2026, following a disagreement between two 14-year-old female students and a fellow student. During the altercation, the victim allegedly made offensive remarks about the girls’ late father, provoking anger.
Police said the girls later attacked the student after school hours.

During the assault, a parent who came to pick up her son reportedly intervened but was also attacked by the girls, who allegedly dragged her clothes in the process. The school management subsequently expelled the students for violent conduct.

The situation escalated the following day, March 6, when the son of the assaulted woman allegedly carried out a revenge attack on another student—identified as the brother of the girls—in an incident captured in a viral video.

In response, the Commissioner of Police has ordered the immediate intensification of the Operation Safe Schools Initiative across secondary schools in Edo State to address supervision gaps and prevent similar occurrences.

The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has also been mobilised to engage students and school authorities through sensitisation and reorientation programmes.

The Command urged parents, guardians, and school authorities to take greater responsibility for the upbringing and supervision of children, while advising students to avoid violence and report grievances through appropriate channels.

Police appealed for calm, assuring the public that justice will be served and measures are being put in place to prevent a recurrence.
