The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise for the 2025 general elections will commence nationwide on August 18.
In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, INEC disclosed that the online pre-registration portal cvr.inecnigeria.org will open on August 18, allowing eligible Nigerians to begin their voter registration process remotely.
The commission further stated that in-person, physical registration will commence on August 25, 2025, at all INEC Local Government Area offices and designated registration centres across the country.
According to the electoral body, the in-person registration exercise will run every weekday Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
INEC urged Nigerians, particularly those who have just attained voting age or those yet to be registered, to take advantage of the exercise. “Your votes start with registration. Don’t miss your opportunity to register,” the Commission emphasized in its public advisory.
The announcement read:
“2025 NATIONWIDE CONTINUOUS VOTER REGISTRATION (#CVR) ONLINE PRE-REGISTRATION via https://cvr.inecnigeria.org from August 18, 2025. IN-PERSON REGISTRATION at all INEC LGA Offices Nationwide & Other Designated Registration Centres from August 25, 2025. ⏰ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm (Monday – Friday).”
This CVR exercise is expected to provide an opportunity for Nigerians who are yet to register, those seeking to update their voter information, or transfer their voter cards to a different polling unit, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
