Akinlolu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Ogudu Police Station, allegedly raped the teenager after promising to help her recover her stolen phone. He had summoned the girl to his office, claiming that the suspect who had stolen her phone had been apprehended.
However, upon arriving at the police station, Akinlolu allegedly locked his office door and raped the teenager. The incident occurred on June 29, and the survivor’s mother had accused the police of attempting to cover up the case.
At the Magistrate Court 11, the prosecution counsel urged the court to remand the defendant, stating that the offence of defilement violates Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Magistrate O.O. Fagboun ordered the defendant’s remand and adjourned the case until March 11, 2025, for trial and further proceedings.
