Speaking at a stakeholders’ event focused on addressing industry challenges, exploring emerging trends, understanding the policy framework, and unveiling collaborative opportunities within the entire hospitality value chain, Commissioner Benson-Awoyinka emphasized the significant role played by the hospitality sector in the economic development of the state.

The commissioner acknowledged the need for the industry to embrace technology and innovation to become data-driven. She highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to review policy frameworks to support growth, innovation, and sustainability in the sector. Improving infrastructure, enhancing security, and promoting Lagos as a prime tourist destination are also key priorities for the government.

The unification of tax payments in the hospitality sector is aimed at simplifying the taxation process and reducing the administrative burden on businesses. By eliminating multiple taxations, the government aims to create a more favorable business environment that encourages growth and investment in the sector. This move is expected to boost the overall competitiveness of the hospitality industry in Lagos State.

The government’s commitment to supporting the hospitality sector aligns with its broader goals of attracting more tourists and investors to the state. By providing an enabling environment for the industry to thrive, the government aims to position Lagos as a top tourist destination and enhance its reputation as a hub for business and leisure activities.

The announcement of the unified tax payment system demonstrates the government’s responsiveness to the needs of stakeholders in the hospitality sector. It reflects a proactive approach to policymaking and a commitment to fostering collaboration between the government and industry players.

As the hospitality sector in Lagos continues to evolve and adapt to changing trends, the government’s support and initiatives will play a crucial role in driving its growth and sustainability. With a focus on technology, innovation, and a business-friendly environment, the government aims to position Lagos as a leading destination for tourism, hospitality, and investment.

The unification of tax payments is a step in the right direction towards creating a more transparent, efficient, and investor-friendly business environment in Lagos State. It is hoped that this initiative will contribute to the continued growth and success of the hospitality sector, ultimately benefiting both businesses and the economy as a whole.
