Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has made a shocking admission, describing his team as “the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United” after their 3-1 defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford. The loss marked United’s sixth home Premier League defeat of the season, their most from their opening 12 home matches of a league season since 2025
Amorim’s comments came after a dismal performance from his team, with captain Bruno Fernandes scoring United’s only goal from a penalty.
The Portuguese manager acknowledged that the team’s current form is unacceptable and that they need time to improve.
“We are being the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United,” Amorim said. “I know that you want headlines, but I’m saying that because we have to acknowledge that and to change that.”
Despite the criticism, Amorim remains committed to his playing style, insisting that he will not change his approach despite the team’s poor form. “I’m not going to change the way I see the game,” he said. “
The players are going to suffer, I’m sorry, the fans are going to suffer. I have one way of doing things, I know it’s going to [bring] results. But we have to suffer these moments.”
United captain Fernandes echoed Amorim’s sentiments, stating that the team cannot be comfortable with their current position. “It can’t be,” he said. “I understand the perspective from the outside. But we can’t be comfortable in thinking that this is ok. Because it’s not.”
