The latest development, reported on September 12, 2026, marks an important stage in the case As both sides continue to prepare for a possible Trial.

JAMES SAFECHUCK First Filed the lawsuit Against Two companies connected to Michael Jackson, MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures, in 2014.

He Alleged that Jackson sexually abused him When he was still a child. According to his talk Their relationship started in the late 1980s after Safechuck appeared alongside Jackson in a Pepsi commercial.

The case was initially dismissed in 2017 because Of the statute of limitations. However, California Later changed its law to give survivors of Childhood hildhood sexual abuse more time to Bring civil claims.

The legal change helped Safechuck’s lawsuit and A similar case filed by choreographer WADE ROBSON move forward again.

The two cases were later combined in Los Angeles Superior Court. Safechuck and Robson Are accusing Jackson’s companies of failing in Their responsibility to protect them when they Were children.

Michael Jackson’s estate has strongly rejected The allegations. His estate has argued that the Claims are financially motivated and has also Pointed to statements Safechuck and Robson made while Jackson was alive in which they Denied that he abused them.

It is important to note that MICHAEL JACKSON was never convicted of child sexual abuse. In 2005, he was acquitted of all 14 charges brought against him in a highly publicised criminal trial.

A deposition is a formal legal questioning where A person gives answers under oath before a trial. Lawyers for Jackson’s estate are expected to question Safechuck and his mother, STEPHANIE SAFECHUCK.

Although depositions are normal in civil lawsuits, this one is attracting attention because of the high-profile nature of the case.

Lawyers are expected to examine Safechuck’s allegations, including when the alleged abuse happened, what he says took place and what his parents knew during the period.

They may also question what role Jackson’s companies played in his relationship with Safechuck and why Safechuck previously denied that any abuse took place.

His mother’s testimony could also become important. Stephanie Safechuck spoke in Leaving Neverland about how her family became close to Jackson. Lawyers are expected to ask about what she personally observed during that period and whether she ever had concerns.

The answers given during the depositions could later become part of the evidence presented in court.

Safechuck and Wade Robson became widely known after Leaving Neverland was released in 2019.

The documentary, directed by DAN REED, focused on their allegations against Jackson and sparked a major international debate over the singer’s legacy.

Following the documentary, some radio stations Stopped playing Jackson’s music, while some Organisations and brands distanced themselves from his estate.

Jackson’s estate strongly criticised the documentary and accused it of presenting a one-Sided account. The estate also took legal action Against HBO over the programme.

Jackson’s supporters argued that the documentary did not present the views of members of his family or his defence team. Meanwhile, supporters of Safechuck and Robson Said the two men showed courage by speaking publicly about their experiences.

The documentary received an Emmy Award and further intensified the debate surrounding Jackson, with supporters and critics continuing to disagree over the allegations.

Its lawyers have questioned whether Jackson’s companies can be held responsible for the Alleged actions of Jackson himself. They have Also highlighted what they describe as changes And inconsistencies in Safechuck and Robson’s Accounts over the years.

Both men had previously denied being abused by Jackson when they were younger. Robson even Appeared as a defence witness for Jackson during the 2005 criminal trial.

Safechuck and Robson later said they did not fully understand or confront what they allegedly experienced until they became adults and underwent therapy.MICHAEL JACKSON ACCUSER JAMES SAFECHUCK TO TESTIFY UNDER OATH AS ABUSE CASE MOVES FORWARD

Their legal team has argued that delayed disclosure can happen in childhood abuse cases and that their later accounts should not automatically be dismissed because of their earlier statements.

The court will eventually have to consider whether Jackson’s companies had a special responsibility toward the boys and whether they failed to take reasonable steps to protect them.

After the discovery process and depositions are completed, both sides are expected to present further arguments to the court. The judge will then consider motions from both parties before deciding whether the case should proceed to trial.

If the lawsuit goes to trial, it could become a major civil court battle over allegations that have surrounded Jackson’s legacy for years. A trial could potentially take place in 2027.

The case is civil rather than criminal, meaning Safechuck and Robson are seeking financial damages from Jackson’s companies rather than criminal punishment against Jackson, who died in 2009.

For now, both sides remain firm in their positions.

Safechuck, now in his 40s, has largely stayed away from the spotlight since Leaving Neverland, although he has occasionally spoken about child abuse awareness.

His lawyers believe the upcoming deposition is an important step toward seeking justice and accountability.

Jackson’s estate, however, remains confident that further examination of the evidence will support its position that the allegations against the late singer and his companies are unfounded.

Years after Leaving Neverland brought the allegations back into the global spotlight, and more than a decade after the lawsuit first entered the courts, the legal questions surrounding Jackson’s legacy are still being debated.

Now, Safechuck’s testimony under oath will provide another significant chapter in the long-running case.
