Daisy is an Edo/ Italian young talented Sport lady doing us proud in Italy.
During the last years, Daisy has been making so much impact and serving as an inspiration to both Nigerians and Italians who wish to accomplish the same.
Daisy was born and bred in Torino City of Italy in 1996 to her Edo Atlantic parents,
(Mr. Iredus Iredis JP and Magdalene Albert) Her parents were also champions in their various sports respectively.
Daisy is the first Child of the Atlantic family and has two wonderful and talented siblings, who are also doing great in the sport.
Daisy Cacao Osakue’s love for sports started at a very young age. As a child, she was very passionate about tennis but she gradually fell in love with Disc and Weight Throwing.
She obtained the cadet title in 2011 and competed in the 2015 European Junior Championships where she finished 19th.
She relocated to the United States in January 2017 to continue her studies at the Angelo State University in Texas.
Osakue represented Italy at the European teams of Lille where she finished sixth place and also at the U23 European Championships in 2017.
Daisy Osakue is currently the Italian record holder under the age of 23 with a record 59.72m which is also the fourth-best performer ever among the Italian discus throwers.
In 2018, Daisy was attacked and injured in her left eye. When an unknown assailant hurled an egg at her face from a car at Moncalieri, near Turin. And according to a report by The New York Times, Osakue is confident the attack was racially-motivated amid a spate of similar attacks on people of color.
In Daisy’s own words on the motives she believed was behind the incident, “I don’t want to play the sexism or racism card, but people should be able to go out without someone attacking you out of the blue, They are just cowards”.
Daisy advocates for gender equality and actively promote the girls’ power initiative.
