The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed widespread social media claims suggesting that he had been assassinated.
In a statement, the Prime Minister’s office described the reports as false, assuring the public that Netanyahu is safe.
“These are fake news; the Prime Minister is fine,” the office said.
The rumours began circulating online amid the escalating tensions involving Israel, the United States and Iran.
According to Daily Post, the speculation gained momentum after a video posted by Netanyahu on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday showed him addressing a press conference on the ongoing Israel–US–Iran conflict.
Shortly after the video was shared, some social media users claimed they noticed what appeared to be six fingers on Netanyahu’s right hand when he briefly raised it during the speech, fueling conspiracy theories about his alleged death.
The claims were further amplified after US conservative commentator Candace Owens questioned the video in a post on X, which contributed to the spread of the speculation online.
However, officials in the Prime Minister’s office have since dismissed the claims, maintaining that the Israeli leader is alive and well.
