The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has described the simultaneous commencement of the holy month of Ramadan by the Muslim Ummah and the Lenten season by Christians as a spiritually significant moment for Nigeria, calling for unity, reflection, and fervent prayers for the nation.
Governor Okpebholo noted that the coincidence of the two sacred seasons presents a rare opportunity for Nigerians across religious divides to renew their commitment to faith, sacrifice, love, and peaceful coexistence.

He urged Muslims observing Ramadan and Christians marking Lent to use the solemn period of fasting and prayer to seek divine intervention in the affairs of Edo State and the country at large.
According to the Governor, both faith communities should pray for national unity, economic stability, improved security, and lasting peace across Nigeria.

“This is a profound spiritual moment for our nation. As Muslims fast and Christians observe Lent, I encourage all faithful to lift Nigeria before God in prayer and supplication. Let us seek divine guidance to overcome our challenges and build a more united, prosperous, and peaceful country,” he said.

Governor Okpebholo further wished Muslims a spiritually fulfilling Ramadan and Christians a reflective and grace-filled Lenten season, expressing hope that the period will bring blessings, strength, and renewed hope to families in Edo State and beyond.
