Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has congratulated Senator-elect, Joseph Ikpea, and House of Representatives Member-elect, Omosede Igbinedion, on their victories in last Saturday’s Edo Central Senatorial and Ovia Federal Constituency by-elections.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo commended voters for turning out in their thousands to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.
He assured the electorate that the party’s resounding victories in Edo Central and Ovia are a pointer to an easy win for President Bola Tinubu in Edo State come 2027.
“This victory is a clear indication of the trust and confidence the people have in Ikpea and Igbinedion’s abilities to represent their interests effectively at the National Assembly. I have no doubt that they will be strong and powerful voices for our State, working tirelessly to attract development and ensure that the people of Edo Central and Ovia Federal Constituency receive the attention they deserve,” the Governor said.
Governor Okpebholo also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as a free, fair and credible election, while applauding security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the process.
He further called on all stakeholders to support Ikpea and Igbinedion as they begin their new journey of service, reiterating his administration’s readiness to work with all elected officials, irrespective of party affiliation, to advance Edo State’s progress and development.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Edo State, I wish Joseph Ikpea and Omosede Igbinedion a successful and impactful tenure. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration that will bring about positive change and prosperity for our State,” Governor Okpebholo concluded.
