“Osinbajo Lauds Alex Otti’s People Centred Leadership, Citing Tangible Progress in Abia State
Former Nigerian Vice President Prof.”
Yemi Osinbajo has praised Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti for his transformative leadership, describing it as having “made public service worthwhile.” Osinbajo highlighted Otti’s purposeful, people‑centred approach as instrumental in repositioning the southeastern state for sustainable development and enhanced citizen welfare.
The commendation occurred during a courtesy visit to Umuahia on Wednesday, coinciding with Governor Otti’s 61st birthday. Osinbajo characterized the meeting as a recognition of “tangible evidence of progress” under Otti’s administration, which has now completed nearly three years in office. This gesture reinforces a narrative of credible governance emerging from Abia State.
In his remarks, Osinbajo singled out Otti’s social welfare initiatives, including the Senior Citizens’ Law, as exemplary in addressing the needs of vulnerable populations. He also commended the governor for extensive road infrastructure upgrades and improved state connectivity, framing them as clear signs of results driven leadership.
“I am extremely proud of the work you have done so far. You have lived up to expectations not only to the people but also to your friends and associates,” Osinbajo said, underscoring Otti’s fulfillment of election promises.
Governor Otti, responding to the praise, referred to Osinbajo as both a mentor and brother, emphasizing that the visit was an acknowledgment of service rather than a planned public celebration. The governor reiterated that governance should remain anchored on the welfare, security, and peace of the people, highlighting recent interventions that restored order in previously unrest affected local government areas.
Political analysts and observers view Osinbajo’s endorsement as a significant validation of Otti’s leadership model, which prioritizes inclusive governance and measurable development outcomes. Complementing this support, the Labour Party’s leadership has described Otti as the party’s “pride,” recognizing his transformative stewardship of Abia since 2023.
As Abia State’s political landscape evolves ahead of future electoral cycles, endorsements from national figures like Osibanjo may strengthen Otti’s profile as a model of public service in Nigeria, particularly in delivering visible development and institutional reforms rooted in a people centred governance philosophy.
