PFIPC Scandal: NDC Demands Gbajabiamila’s Removal, Calls for Independent Corruption Investigation.
Nigeria’s opposition New Democratic Coalition (NDC) has called for the immediate removal of the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations linked to the Presidential Fiscal and Infrastructure Policy Committee (PFIPC) scandal.
The coalition also demanded the establishment of an independent investigative panel to examine the allegations, arguing that only a transparent and impartial inquiry can restore public confidence in government institutions and strengthen accountability.
In a statement issued by the coalition, the NDC described the allegations surrounding the PFIPC as serious and capable of undermining public trust if not addressed promptly. The group maintained that allowing officials named in the controversy to remain in office during ongoing scrutiny could compromise the integrity of any investigation.
The coalition urged the Federal Government to demonstrate its commitment to transparency and the fight against corruption by temporarily relieving Gbajabiamila of his duties pending the outcome of an independent probe. According to the NDC, such a move would reinforce the principle that no public official should be above accountability.
The demand comes amid increasing public debate over governance, fiscal accountability, and transparency in Nigeria’s public institutions. Civil society groups and political stakeholders have repeatedly emphasized the importance of credible investigations into allegations involving senior government officials to safeguard public confidence and strengthen democratic institutions.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Presidency nor Femi Gbajabiamila had publicly responded to the NDC’s latest call for his removal and an independent investigation. The specific allegations linked to the PFIPC scandal also remain subject to official verification, and no judicial findings have established criminal liability against any individual mentioned in the matter.
The development is expected to intensify political discourse as Nigerians await further clarification from the relevant authorities and any official investigative processes that may follow.
