The meeting focused on issues surrounding the enforcement of the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 1991, and the need for better collaboration between the two institutions to strengthen the rule of law and build public trust.

Following the deliberations, the Nigeria Police Force clarified that there is no court order halting the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Act. However, out of respect for the NBA and in consideration of public interest, the Force has temporarily suspended the enforcement pending the hearing of a related case at the Federal High Court in Warri, scheduled for October 16, 2025.

To deepen this partnership, a joint Police–NBA Committee has been set up to promote regular engagement and collaboration between both bodies.

Motorists were also encouraged motorists to use this opportunity to update their vehicle documents and ensure they meet all legal requirements on the use of tinted or shaded glass.

The Inspector-General of Police affirmed the Police Force’s commitment to carrying out its duties with fairness, transparency, and full respect for citizens’ rights, while working closely with key stakeholders across the justice system.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, from the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
