Abuja, October 31, 2025 — In a stern address to Nigeria’s newly appointed military leaders, President Bola Tinubu demanded action, not excuses as the nation grapples with escalating insecurity. “We are in a hurry to celebrate peace,” he declared at the decoration ceremony of the service chiefs in Abuja’s Presidential Villa.
Tinubu highlighted new armed groups in the North-Central, North-West, and parts of the South, calling them “snakes” that must be “smashed in the head.” While past efforts—like reclaiming occupied territories and rescuing kidnapped citizens—have curbed terror groups, threats evolve constantly the warned.
“Without safety, development is meaningless,” Tinubu stressed. “Your duty is to protect Nigerians. Be innovative, pre-emptive, and courageous*. Deploy technology. Work together. I’ll provide the support you need.”
Tinubu’s reshuffle marks the fourth change since APC took power in 2015. The president praised past efforts but insisted: Results, not excuses.”
